She’s one of the most famous actresses to come from South Africa, and now, she’s speaking about one of the most pivotal issues in both modern SA and America as a whole. In a new interview with Elle, Charlize Theron sat down with the mag to discuss how she feels about racism and where her future as a parent may take her.
Theron, who openly has black children held no regret in her words that she may end up moving out of America because “racism is more alive than it has ever been” “in fact it makes me scared to. raise my black children here”. The comments, perhaps, have struck a chord with some on social media.
“Racism is much more alive and well than people thought. We can’t deny it anymore. We have to be vocal,” Theron told Chelsea Handler in the May cover story. “There are places in this country where, if I got a job, I wouldn’t take it. I wouldn’t travel with my kids to some parts of America, and that’s really problematic.”
