Here’s what we know about the nerve agent used in Salisbury

We’ve received a barrage of e-mails demanding to know how or at the very least what we know about the nerve agent we previously identified in Salisbury.  Earlier this month,   we revealed that the nerve agent was indeed a Novichok agent (as we reported here) and then two days later confirmed by British Prime Minister Theresa May.

So here’s what we know

As we previously reported, the novichok agent was brought into the United Kingdom via a collection of packages from its Eastern most border.  The novichok agent was  brought by two men and a woman, believed, to be assigned to the task of assassination by the Kremlin.     We were the first to report such after we  spoke to sources who accurately told us of the agent, and then, told us of how it happened (see here, and here).

Where does it come from?

From what we’ve discovered through international connections, Novichok, was first manufactured in the 1970 ‘s in a top secret Russian facility (likely the FSB lab).   The substance, which isn’t just lethal it can cause grave health issues, has only ever been used all of twice (in the more than 40 years since its creation).    Intelligence documents obtained from Russia by The Daily News, show, that the  substance first existed in the 1970’s under the program and code name Foliant.

It apparently comes in five different substances,  some of which, are believed to be the deadliest of nerve agents known to modern mankind.

Why was this weapon created?

Experts say that the weapon was first created by the FSB lab in hopes that it would circumvent banned weapons lists.   NATO and similar agencies during the early 1970 ‘s had an extensive list of chemical substances and such that were internationally illegal.

Who were the people that brought it into England?

It is believed, through the same sources who accurately told us what we know, that three current Russian spies brought the substance into the country.    While we were not able to get exact identifications, sources did say that the three people had “intelligence backgrounds” and “direct communications with the Kremlin’.

Why was Sergei Skripal a target?

Skripal betrayed the Russians back in the late 80’s and early 90’s.  Skripal had been sent to the United Kingdom to spy on us for the Kremlin,  although, he would later be caught. During his interrogation, he, agreed to switch sides and betray the Russians in exchange for sparing his life.
