Many of them are understood to have been beaten to death along the border area according to numerous human rights organisations that have been following the ordeal. According to what we’ve learned, some 27 migrants are believed to have been killed by border forces. ABC News reports that these deaths appear to have occurred during attempts by the group to scale the border to the other side.
Alarmingly, in one of the many videos circulating involving the situation (we can’t show it here), it appeared that Moroccan authorities were responsible for beating the migrants. Some officers were seen standing over bodies while another allegedly poked another migrant with his police baton.
