According to a new autopsy report in the death of Patrick Lyoya the unarmed Black man was in fact shot in the back of the head by a Michigan police officer. Lyoya was gunned down on 4 April by a white officer in Michigan during a traffic stop turned wildly aggressive that ended in his murder. He is understood as seen in the video to have struggled with the officer considering he was unarmed and did not appear to be intoxicated in the video itself. That video was later backed up by the autopsy report that is now being discussed according to The Huffington Post.
“This independent autopsy report confirms what we all witnessed in the horrifying video footage: Unarmed Patrick Lyoya was conscious until the bullet entered his head, instantly ending what could have been a long and fruitful life,” attorney Ben Crump said.
The autopsy was performed by Dr. Werner Spitz. Crump said Lyoya could have lived until his early 80s.
