Will Smith has issued a public apology to Chris Rock for bitch-slapping him for the world to see during the #Oscars

American movie icon Will Smith has issued a public apology to Chris Rock after assaulting him on stage during the Oscars over the weekend. Smith has now issued a public apology to Rock on Instagram after criticism online and behind-the-scenes of the Oscars quickly followed.

“Violence in all of its forms is poisonous and destructive,” Smith, 53, wrote in a statement posted to his Instagram account Monday afternoon. “My behavior at last night’s Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable. Jokes at my expense are a part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s medical condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally.”

He continued in addressing the Academy and his King Richard family…

“I deeply regret that my behavior has stained what has been an otherwise gorgeous journey for all of us. I am a work in progress.”
