Let’s talk about the man who pushed an innocent Asian lady to her death in NYC this week [Tw]

Let’s face it New York City will never be the same again and warding off crime or an attack is probably about as common now as it is for one to hunt down Chinese food at ungodly hours in the boroughs. This week an innocent Asian woman died in Times Square after being intentionally pushed in front of a subway by a mentally troubled homeless man.

According to the NYPD, the deceased has been identified as 40-year-old Michelle Alyssa Go from the Upper West Side of the city. Go was reportedly in the Times Square station around 9:30 am on Saturday when a strange man first had approached her and a friend and then approached her again before shoving her in front of the train. That man has been identified as 61-year-old Simon Martial who himself is understood to struggle from mental health troubles and is homeless. He has been charged with 2nd degree murder although it is unclear if this poor lady was targeted due to her race.

“This incident was unprovoked, and the victim does not appear to have any interaction with the subject,” said NYPD Commissioner Keechant Sewell. “This was a senseless, absolutely senseless, act of violence.”

“Too often Asian Americans are seen as foreigners and people who are not truly American, and we want to make sure we are standing as a city against discrimination,” Rep. Grace Meng, who represents Queens, said at a press conference.

Editors note: Due to photograph rights we can’t show you the mans photo here but the New York Post has a pic of the guy.
