In what a judge has ruled was a fairly minor role in Chapo ‘s drug empire — Emma Coronel is going to prison to get her life back. According to reports, the ex-beauty queen estranged wife of the jailed kingpin has been sentenced to just 3 years in prison for her role in the empire which was mostly a ceremonial type thing as it stands. What she didn’t get away with however was her assistance to her ex-husband Chapo in his grand Mexican escape using a secret watch.
Prosecutors initially wanted a four-year sentence for the glamorous Coronel. Instead, though US District Judge Rudolph Contreras ruled that her role was pretty small and paled in comparison to the much larger operation involving the “no shortage” of willing drug volunteers.
