This fossil found in Canada is understood to be the oldest known fossil of an animal ever found

That is in fact because if it is confirmed to be what they suspect it to be researchers in Canada have found the fossil bones of an animal dating 350m years prior than previously understood. The stunning discovery in fact once verified would actually mean that animals have existed for at least 350m years prior than originally thought — indicating that animal life on earth is probably more unknown to us than we are presently aware of.

Researchers say the discover happened near the Northwest Territories’ Mackenzie Mountains. It is understood that the researchers involved in the find believe the find to be that of an ancient sponge found in an area that contained rocks and such more than 890m years old.
