Israel allegedly planted spyware on cell phones belonging to some of the world’s elite

If you’re a journalist of any kind that covers Israel or may be considered an Israeli foe you might want to read this. According to weekend news reports, a variant of Israeli spyware has been found on more than 50,000 phones belonging to government officials; journalists, VIPs, and other members of the elite.

In a wide ranging investigation involving everyone from Le Monde to The Guardian, several newspapers made a shocking discovery about a programme allegedly designed by Israel ‘s top unit the NSO group. The NSO group is understood to have built a series of spyware programmes that were capable of quietly infecting phones.

One of the most notable targeted in fact was Hanan Elatr, the wife of Saudi-born journalist Jamal Kashoggi who was murdered by MBS. It is unclear exactly what the Israeli ‘s may be looking for although numerous outlets are investigating the root of the mission.

The leak reportedly contains the phone numbers of heads of state; prime ministers, a handful of Americans, journalists, pundits, and more. Though it is understood that the leak has not been made public by the outlets that made the shocking discovery.

Now on to The Guardian ‘s report. Deeper in the report, it is alleged that the programme is called Pegasus and may be more widely use than initially understood.
