Similar to how “stimulus” is now “stimmy” and “stimmie” vaxxie now apparently means vaccine selfie in particular. First having appeared in the New York Times, the publication apparently helped coin the term for when someone takes a selfie while in the chair receiving their vaccination.
In the article, it is described as a selfie in the chair and a symbol o people having hope instead o despair. While we’re not entirely sure that last part is accurate it scertainly joins a list of rather interesting words that have taken flight due to the pandemic. It comes amid an increasing death toll and may be a sign that people are looking to cope the best way they can.
