America: Careful homegrown extremists are or may be planning to mobilize again

The National Terrorism Advisory System (yes that is actually a thing) of the United States by way of the Department of Homeland Security has issued a heightened security warning. According to DHS, officials are examining the apparent credible belief that extremists are or may be planning to reportedly attack again.

CNN notes that a memo released Wednesday acknowledges that officials believe anti-government and far-right attacks may persist for some time.

“Information suggests that some ideologically-motivated violent extremists with objections to the exercise of governmental authority and the presidential transition, as well as other perceived grievances fueled by false narratives, could continue to mobilize to incite or commit violence,” the bulletin reads.

CNN also reported earlier this month that officials were discussing raising the national threat level in the United States over the presence of far-right terrorism.
