T.V Review: Big Sky ‘s Terrifying Pilot Premiere Episode

Title: Big Sky (Pilot)

Messy Rating: It’s deliciously messy.

Rating: 3 1/2 Stars

Fun fact: also stars the ever so gorgeous Ryan Phillippe.

Editors comments: The procedural drama stars in a psychological sense a series of characters that are equally messy as they are trippy and creepy. With a truck driver set out to cause as much mayhem as possible.

*This show is currently engulfed in controversy and rightfully so. While it may be good — it certainly is exploitative; kind of offensive, and very much scary.

Created by David E. Kelley —- Big Sky is a vivid story about two cops Cassie and her sidekick who end up joining forces with a particular someone’s ex-wife in a last ditch effort to rescue to young women who have been kidnapped by a bizarre truck driver. A truck driver so god damn creepy you’re going to need wine to watch this.

Cassie Dowell and Cody Hoyt are two detectives working in prime spots but then eventually find themselves sleeping together despite the fact that Cody is separated from his wife (and not actually divorced.) The show in its pilot almost immediately jumps right into its terrifying plot. And by no means and I want to make this clear is this any judgement towards truck drivers.

I’d advise that anyone who has ever had a missing loved one; a missing sister, or experienced anything of the like. You might not want to watch this — or if you do you might want to exercise caution. It could be triggering.

Keeping it vague here so I won’t go any further than this. But I will say the cinematography; the mystery, the thrill, definitely makes for a perfect quarantine T>V show to watch. ABC nailed it with this one as it has the perfect recipe for mystery and allure and the right amount of WTF to keep you on the edge of your seat.
