San Francisco to potentially lower the voting age, a first in America

San Francisco may soon be one of the only cities in America that has a lower voting age than almost every other state. According to reports, lawmakers in San Fran are arguing a new piece of legislation that would effectively lower the voting age to all but 16 years old. Advocates and supporters of the bill argue that it would instill the habit of voting at a young age to continue to do so well into adulthood. Currently — you have to be at least 18 across the board in America to actually vote in elections whether local or federal. Titled 16SF, if passed, it would lower the age in local elections only.

This would particularly effects local elections in the San Francisco area of Northern California.
