R. Kelly is pleading with a federal judge to be released from prison because “he’s too famous to be a flight risk”

Disgraced musician R. Kelly is back in the news today as it has emerged that his lawyers are pleading with a judge to have him released from prison amid the coronavirus. Documents show that R. Kelly ‘s defines team is now claiming that he is “too famous” to be a flight risk because almost anybody would recognise him.

A judge has already denied two previous attempts for release citing that Kelly would indeed be a flight risk to himself; others, and especially victims. Court records show that officials would be worried that Kelly would openly intimidate witnesses if he were to be released and have free reign over his life.

At the Metropolitan Correctional Centre in Chicago Kelly ‘s lawyers on his behalf filed paperwork citing the following.

Inmates are reportedly banging on doors, walls, and windows begging for help,’ he wrote. ‘The only thing the MCC has done is lock things down, making the situation feel more like solitary confinement and possibly, because of the nature of this virus, locking in healthy inmates with those who may already have the virus but who may not yet be symptomatic.’
