New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced this morning that NY on PAUSE has been extended through 15 May. We’ve rounded up a few more things you should probably know:
- You are now required to cover your face in public where social distancing is not possible. You can be fined or given a civic violation if you don’t.
- The lockdown has now extended as the state aims to reopen itself over the next several weeks. Businesses and such will be able to re-open under a “new normal” plan and will be assessed on potential risks posed to the public if they cannot adhere to social distancing rules.
- New York has lost more than $7.3B in tax revenue since the crisis unfolded. That in itself is an unprecedented loss of revenue and might mean that a number of citywide services are cut.
- People are still able to get food in all of the boroughs at more than 400 sites.
- Schools are closed for the remainder of the school year.
