Lurid details in Meghan Markle ‘s takedown of Associated Newspapers unearthed as lawsuit unravels

The Duchess of Sussex is out full speed and ready to rightfully defend her name. On the first day of the trial against Associated Newspapers, the Duchess of Sussex and her lawyers argued that the publishers of the likes of The Daily Mail “deeply and emotionally” violated the former princess.

In the beginning of the hearing, Markle (who appeared by video link from her new Los Angeles digs with Prince Harry) argued with her lawyers that the Daily Mail had a clear-cut agenda and further sowed the distrusting relations she had with her father. In the same light, it was revealed for the first time that Meghan hasn’t actually seen Thomas Markle in more than two years.

No trial date has formally been set however.

The trial mostly surrounds the distaste the former royal couple has for The Daily Mail and its parent organisation. Markle ‘s lawyers claimed that The Daily Mail violated copyright; personal privacy, and quite possibly the law by publishing a questionably-obtained letter between Markle and her father Thomas. That letter, which we won’t show here, confirmed a number of familial issues that strained their relationship.

Meghan is seeking damages for misuse of privacy information; emotional disturbances, copyright violations, and violations of the Data Protection Act of 2018.
