Startling Reality: How half of America ‘s homeless families are black

A new report delivered to Congress recently has revealed a stunning factoid about the homelessness crisis in America (stunning to those at least that forget black people exist also.) That fact, per the report, is the fact that half of all American homeless families and individuals black.

A former homeless encampment in D.C is pictured.

But what’s shocking about that is black people only make up about 13% of the U.S population. The racial disparities between racial backgrounds and homelessness in America is almost no it is in fact deafening.

According to the report, 52% of homeless families last year in America were indeed black families. The report is only the latest example of the stiff racial disparities between class; wealth, and homelessness in America which hits minority families the hardest.
