HARLEM — A popular park in Harlem is now the scene of a gruesome murder investigation following reports that a Barnard College student has been murdered. According to police, 18-year-old Tessa Majors was stabbed to death shortly after 5:30 pm locale time last night.

Police say that two muggers approached Majors after she was seen leaving a stairwell in the park. They reportedly demanded money but she refused — she was then stabbed multiple times. Police say that Majors attempted to crawl to a nearby guard station in the park but the guard was away at the time.

Majors had just begun college at Barnard one of New York’s premier all female colleges.
