New LGBTQ protections are “on the way” in America — with a catch

That catch being the fact that of course religious exemptions would be a thing. According to Buzzfeed News, a drafted legislation has found itself posted to the internet that largely revealed Republican efforts to nationalise LGBTQ protections but on the same accord offer religius exemptions and compromises.

The bill would nationalise LGBTQ protections for the first time. It would also see key parts of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 categorically edited — although it would stop short of fully legitimizing LGBTQ persons across the board without intervention from religious extremists.

Parts of the bill aim to additionally protect LGBTQ persons from discrimination in housing; workplaces, public spaces, and banking.

But here’s the catch. On the opposite end of the legislation, the legislation aims to satisfy America ‘s harshest: the con-servatives. In that part of the bill, businesses with less than 15 employees would be granted the right to openly talk about marriage in the workplace; discriminate against LGBTQ people, and create a certificate program for adoption agencies to receive fed funding but still turn away LGBTQ potential parents.
