4 Tips to acrylic pouring with kids

One time or another you might have encountered a painting which did not seem like it was done by hand or through the use of ordinary paint brushes. Such paintings are often done using a technique known as acrylic pouring. If you have never heard of this method, you may click here for information. It is a fun activity which can even be done with kids. Below are a few tips which you can use while doing so.

1.    Remember it will be messy

Acrylic pouring is a fun and interesting form of painting which leads to the creation of beautiful pieces. The end product, however, does not come easily since the whole process can tend to get quite messy. Consider, therefore, doing this outdoors, where it will be much easier to clean up and you do not have to worry about paint spills on your kitchen countertops. Dress up for the activity as well, and be sure to use gloves in order to protect your and your child’s hands. Do not get frustrated when it all gets messy since this is a common occurrence during acrylic pouring.

2.    Prepare well

This kind of painting requires prior preparation since the pouring takes a short amount of time and you thus need to be ready with all the materials that you require. Set up your canvases and have all your paints ready, as well as the vessels that you will be using while pouring. Make sure to involve the child in the selection of colors, for instance, so as to make them feel that they are part of the process. Early and good preparation will also ensure that the entire activity goes on smoothly and that you will have a beautiful masterpiece at the end of it.

3.    Encourage them to be creative

Children love participating in fun activities such as painting, drawing, and coloring. These are a great opportunity for them to boost their creativity as well as participate in a team with the other children. During acrylic pouring, encourage them not to be afraid and mix up whatever colors that they would like. This will boost their confidence and motivate them to be creative and to put their ideas to practice without fear. With supervision, kids can come up with excellent ideas and develop really good pieces. This will enable them to be really proud of their work.

4.    Safety is paramount

You must remember to keep your kids safe when engaging in such an activity. For instance, be sure to select products that are non-toxic and those which will pose no harm to you and your kids’ health. There are multiple options online which you can check out and make the best selection in terms of safety. Consider also the impact of various products on the environment, as indicated on the containers of the items.  Make sure that all the activities are supervised and that you guide the children while they are doing the acrylic pouring.
