Star Wars “Force Awakens” smashes records at opening weekend box office

StarWars

If box office numbers and fan-frenziness are anything to go by, then, Star Wars: The Force Awakens is perhaps one of the best of the franchise yet. According to reports,  Star Wars fared pretty well on its opening night last Thursday with a cool $57m.

But that’s not all. According to The Walt Disney Co,  the latest installment in the Star Wars  Franchise is reportedly on par to smash $200m in box office sales across the globe.  The last time such a record was seen, was perhaps, earlier this year when Jurassic World debuted at a massive $208.8m.

The film opened in most countries first, on Wednesday, whereas it has garnered about $72.7m in box office sales as of this writing. Unfortunately for Chinese Star Wars fans, the film, won’t actually open until January due to restrictions in the country.
