Google shutting down its extremely unpopular social network

Looks like Google+ is no more. According to Google,  the unpopular social network Google+ is shutting down indefinitely  (but not without a few controversies in tow).    Per Google,  the social network never really pulled up the numbers  and therefore the company decide that the product would no longer live.

Apparently, Google knew that there was a huge data flaw since at least March.   A blog post revealed by Google on Monday, ehum, confirmed that not only did they know they concealed it — but didn’t reveal why. Of course, The Wall Street Journal quickly pounced with a report of its own — citing that the company valued its reputation over the idea of a massive controversy and data breach.

Per The Journal, uh,   Some 500,000 users were reportedly hit with the supposed privacy bug.  E-mails; genders, occupations (and the like) were all apparently collected in the breach… but Google did nothing.  Presumably,  as several critics have pointed out, it is widely believed Congress itself is set to pounce on the Journal’s report in the coming weeks.
