In what appears to be an effort to quash spam and prostitution ads, Craigslist, has actually managed to eliminate much of its user base. This month, and quietly, Craigslist decided to make a sudden change to its services section. A section that many businesses (especially self employed individuals across industries like construction and home cleaning) have used for many years.
Now, the site expects users to pony up $5 per ad and $5 more to repost said ad. The site declined to comment on the sudden change, although, the response has been mixed online. Most users have threatened to abandon the service, after all, it has been free since its inception more than 20 years ago.
