We hope you enjoyed the queens jubilee last year — as it actually cost taxpayers much more than expected (at least in certain areas). According to a Privy Purse official, the jubilee rang in with costs of £38million most of which was put towards upkeep of royal castles and such estates.
A mere breakdown of the total costs (and other weird information).
- Payroll: Rose from $26.6 million to $27.8 million
- Property maintenance: All those castles and country estates aren’t cheap. They went from $13.5 million to $13.8 million.
- Travel: Fell from $7.6 million to $6.8 million.
