Queen’s jubilee cost taxpayers £38million

QUEEN1We hope you enjoyed the queens jubilee last year — as it actually cost taxpayers much more than expected (at least in certain areas). According to a Privy Purse official, the jubilee rang in with costs of £38million most of which was put towards upkeep of royal castles and such estates.

A mere breakdown of the total costs (and other weird information).

  • Payroll: Rose from $26.6 million to $27.8 million
  • Property maintenance: All those castles and country estates aren’t cheap. They went from $13.5 million to $13.8 million.
  • Travel: Fell from $7.6 million to $6.8 million.
