Lifehack: How To Win At Learning-Life

I got some really awesome news earlier this week. I would be able to go back to school and complete my undergraduate studies. The first in my family to attend college AND soon to be the first to complete college. Financially I have been struggling and I thought school was going to be put on the back burner- but by Gods grace there were other plans for me. Still- with school approaching, I know others may struggle with studying or finding the best ways to retain information. Developed in 1983 by Dr. Howard Gardner, professor of education at Harvard University investigated through the his discovery of the Howard Gardner’s Multiple Intelligence research how intelligence plays out across eight different modes of intelligence.  Traditional notion of intelligence, based on I.Q. testi...

World Premier of Sing! Goddess

Greek mythology is something I have been fascinated with since elementary school. I remember there was one book, the only one of its kind, in the school library that I still have yet to return. Yikes! Those late fees are most likely outstandingly gross. Ines Braun & Erin Capistrano have created a work that is all-encompassing of what a night out to the theater should feel like, bringing together of communities through storytelling. Braun and Capistrano's new work takes audiences on a journey of how would the forces or powers to operate if there were no male head figure involved. The duo craft of adding complex layers of richness by embodying the goddesses with the actors' humanity makes for both entertaining and educational theater. Having worked with Ines and Erin before, I know very ...

Trinidad and Tobago is a magical place hands down. From the people of the island to the culinary mashup to the geographic landscape of the island it is a remarkably memorizing place. With that much territory, you may ask yourself, what’s there to do?  Here are 4 fun things to do while in Trinidad.  Wildlife Exploration Asa Wright Nature Centre home to an extremely diverse biota hosting 97 native mammals, 400 species of native birds birds, 55 varied reptiles species, 25 amphibians, and 617 butterflies, as well as over 2,200 species of flowering plants. Gun Violence in America: A Stance

I am not trying to be funny at all. I am more of a knife person.  Guns can be used to protect, but they also can be used to ensure a kill. The difference between a gun and a knife is- I could obliterate a mall, school, densely populated area, a house of worship in a matter of seconds, reload and do it all over again. You can’t do that with a knife. I do have to say, had I lived in a world where guns were used to ensure that game killed was so my family could eat or to prevent a threat from happening- I might have a different perspective. My lived experience with guns has been in one of fear. When I was 2 years old I remember having a gun placed to my head in a car. Jewelry rob, money stolen, and my life was the bargaining chip- let me tell you even at 2 years old y...

Soul Summit 2019

As part of my summer series, I went to my first Soul Summit, right in the heart of downtown Brooklyn my hometown. From the amount of people to the music and were they playing the tunes. Soul Summit is the ultimate summer event for you to let loose. In its 15th year it is an afternoon to evening function which is sweaty, sexiness, there is food and drinks, outfits that slay, and most all, dancing with abandon to a non-stop mix of classic house music though the vibes and tunes invite everyone for a little favor of their own. This is best to go with friends. I went after work and it was nice experience though cut short, my reason was not directly related to the event itself I just could not stomach it. If you are in Brooklyn next year and are looking for a wild, dance like no ones watchin...

Theater Review: The Rolling Stone

This play completely fucked me up. Chris Urch's The Rolling Stone is a play where once it begins picks up momentum and progressively rises the stakes. Metaphorically, it is as if the director took the playwright text, dropped it from a steep slope, and the stone(text) builds, and builds, and builds until we get to an ending where we don’t know if the damage done is to clear a path or continue on its rampage. I find that is what critics and viewers are missing this is not a start at point A arrive at point B type of play. There is still a whole people left today to either be the rolling stone or try to hide from being crushed. Directed by Saheem Ali (Sugar In Our Wounds) this new family drama tells the story of a gay man in Uganda and his church pastor brother who clash over the sexuali...

Hi, I’m an International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme Graduate

As a result of the Trump Administration plan to cut back in education. I'd like to take a moment to share my educational journey thus far. Everything I learned, academically, from since I could remember up until the tenth grade was utterly destroyed in a matter of a couple weeks. I was chosen to be apart of the IB program and in its first two weeks what I thought I knew about education, academics, and being a A student quickly changed. The International Baccalaureate® (IB) Diploma Programme (DP) is for students aged 16-19. It is not for lazy students, at all. There was about three students that took AP (advance placement) courses and by some circumstance also took a few IB courses. They said it was “10 times harder.” I took it because I heard 33 free college credits and oh boy- did I f...

Review of FAST & FURIOUS PRESENTS: HOBBS & SHAW

Hobbs & Shaw premiered at the Dolby Theatre on July 13, 2019, and is scheduled to be theatrically released in the United States on August 2, 2019, in 2D, Dolby Cinema, and IMAX. As the first spinoff of the Fast & Furious franchise, there are many things to be said for this. I would admit it is quite difficult penning pieces that have not yet been seen by the general public. It is at times quite hard to keep quite. Still, as the first of its kind...I would say go see it. Let’s have a chat about it after this weekend. FAST & FURIOUS PRESENTS: HOBBS & SHAW is going to be in theaters across the country tomorrow Friday, August 2, 2019, and I can't wait to review it with you all. My experience with the Fast & Furious franchise is they don't hold back from adrenaline-pump...

Shakespeare In The Park presents Coriolanus

New York’s free theater summer series continues at The Delacorte Theater, home of the legendary Shakespeare in the Park. Currently on stage is Corriolanus a Roman war tragedy about a general voted into power by a populace hungry for change, and the unraveling that follows. Running now till August 11th, 2019 Tony Award winner Daniel Sullivan (Proof) directs while an ensemble of 38 actors bring this play to life. Among them is Nneka Okafor (Too Heavy For Your Pocket, 2017); Louis Cancelmi (Boardwalk Empire, 2010); Kate Burton (Scandal, Grey’s Anatomy); Jonathan Cake (Desperate Housewives, Noah’s Ark 1999); and I’d like to bring the spotlight on Darryl Gene Daughtry, Jr. - recent Juilliard graduate, Group 48, who is also my mentor and friend and one to watch. As always Shakespeare i...

Top 30 Tender Messages to Your Loved One

Nothing can brighten up a day better than a cute message from a loved one. It is a perfect way to start a morning or say good night: just text your partner a few pleasant words. You can talk about how you adore them how much their support and affection mean to you and suggest ideas about how you can spend your next time together. The main principle is to say honest, and there is no need to reinvent the wheel; just write what you feel because copy-pasted phrases work as turnoffs for girls. 1. You are my sunshine and my moon. My dark days would be incomplete without you because only when we are apart, I feel how much you mean to me. 2. I appreciate the time and efforts you spend to make me happy; no one has ever made me feel as special as you do. 3. When we are together, there is no need t...

Trump Administration To Cut Billions From Education

The White House under the Trump administration wants a 12% cut in Educational funding, which translates to roughly $7.1 Billion gone. Poof. Vanish. Education no more.  While congress opposes this budget proposal, the Trump administration surely will find a way to get a measure of their wants fulfilled.  This news is quite troubling, as someone who has been greatly fortunate to attend a college the access to the knowledge I’ve acquired is laying an essential framework for my future. I imagine countless other students who would strongly oppose any cuts to education, as it is already it’s tough and to add undue stress to the building blocks of success is heartless. The details on Trumps Administration cut to education proposal includes  -The federal government ...
