Grocery store employees in U.S are starting to die because of the Coronavirus

A new turn on the Coronavirus front might end up having damaging consequences for people trying to get their groceries. In a seething piece in the Washington Post, the paper took a look at a sudden spike in deaths among grocery store employees across America. Having died from COVID-19 (some with underlying conditions) the essential frontline workers at the forefront of this pandemic might be in for a little more than they bargained for.

Among them:

  1. A Trader Joe ‘s employee in Scarsdale, New York died this past week from COVID-19. It is also believed they had an underlying health condition. As a result, TJ ‘s was closed on Monday in areas like Brooklyn to ramp up cleaning efforts and the like.
  2. Last week, a 27-year-old market greeter at a Giant store in Largo Md passed away after going to work.She said, ‘Mommy, I’m going to work because no one else is going to help the senior citizens get their groceries,'” her mother recalls.
  3. Last month, two Chicago area Wal-Mart employees ages 48 and 51 both died from COVID-19 complications.
