Trump ‘s defence: Abuse of Power is not an impeachable offence

IN stunning defence memos obtained by multiple outlets, it appears that Donald Trump ‘s defence team is prepared to attempt to argue that abuses of power are not impeachable offences. According to CNN, the defence team, mostly Dershowitz, plans borrow an impeachment argument from the 1868 impeachment of Andrew Johnson.

“He argued successfully to the Senate that criminal-like conduct is required. That argument prevailed. I will be making that argument as a lawyer on behalf of the President’s defence team against impeachment,” Dershowitz said.

Meanwhile on a separate ABC appearance, Dershowitz downplayed the evidence House Democrats have citing that much if it isn’t enforceable by Congress.

“You have a lot of evidence, disputed evidence that could go both ways. But the vote was to impeach on abuse of power which is not within the constitutional criteria for impeachment and obstruction of justice,” he said.
