Report: Boris Johnson will ignore Huawei concerns and give them access to 5G network

Despite numerous security concerns around the world — Prime Minister Boris Johnson appears prepared to grant Huawei access to 5G networks in the United Kingdom. This comes amid a backdrop of concerns that the Chinese government is utilizing the tech company for flat-out security measures that violate human rights laws around the world.

According to the Washington Examiner, some ministers are certainly on board to allow partial access while others are not. American intelligence officials in London for the NSA are currently lobbying to stop Huawei from accessing any form of British cell phone networks.

It was in fact a recent BBC interview that ignited original concerns that Huawei would indeed get the greenlight.

“The British public deserve to have access to the best possible technology. I have talked about infrastructure and technology,” he said. “We want to put in gigabit broadband for everybody.”

“Now, if people oppose one brand or another, then they have to tell us which is the alternative. “On the other hand, let’s be clear, I don’t, as the U.K. prime minister, want to put in any infrastructure that is going to prejudice our national security or our ability to co-operate with Five Eyes intelligence.”
