MOSCOW, RUSSIA —- A woman we’ve previously written about before Lyubov Sybol is back in the headlines once again. This time the activist is currently in police custody according to reports amid a likely false investigation against her. According to local media reports and the country ‘s main investigative body, they claim without much publicly available evidence that Sobol kowingly threatened a federal security officer (we’re working to confirm this claim.)
Sobol is a known ally of Mr. Navalny a foe of the Russian government and considered to be a member of the group gunning for the fall of the Russian government in the country. Alike Sobol, they’re both fighting for a more Democratic government rather than the current run by demagogues.
Today at 7 am the police came to Lyubov Sobol’s apartment,” Navalny’s team tweeted Friday. “Since 7:10 Sobol has not been in touch, and the cameras in her apartment were sealed and turned off.”
A CNN report appears to show that part of the case apparently surrounds a visit by Sobol to the home of an apparent federal agent that Navalny is allegedly accused of trying to poison.
