Linda Tripp, who secretly recorded the now-iconic Lewinsky tapes, has died at the age of 70

Some might be a little young, others are just old enough to remember Linda Tripp. In the 1998, Linda Tripp helped ignite would become of the impeachment of U.S President Bill Clinton. Tripp, 70, was best known for having questionably taped phone conversations between herself and Monica Lewinsky that she later handed over to the authorities.

Tripp was able to get those tapes because Lewinsky had reportedly confided in her at the time that she was unhappy with the current predicament she had been going through. Even up until her death, Tripp maintained that she had nothing but admiration for the former White House intern.

Her son confirmed her death to the New York Post:

“I know all the press will focus on the other stuff but she was a special person and a fantastic grandparent who was devoted to her family,” Mr Foley told the newspaper. “People forget this part.”
