Italy reports 475 Coronavirus cases in a single day

ITALY — Italy has some records that Italy probably could’ve gone its whole society without ever wanting to acquire. This week — Italy recorded 475 new cases in a single day (its biggest ever recorded.)

Here’s what you might’ve missed in the past 24 hours:

  1. Turkey has now recorded its second confirmed death

“We have lost a 61-year-old male patient. I wish Allah’s mercy upon him,” said the country’s Health Minister Dr Fahrettin Koca in a tweet.

2. Iran ‘s supreme leader just made a huge decision about prisoners

That’s because according to state-run media, the government is reportedly planning to pardon upwards of 10,000 prisoners in an effort to further curb the spread of the Coronavirus.

3. The U.S invokes the Defense Protection Act…

In one of their most dramatic moves yet, the U.S announced on Wednesday that officials including Trump had signed the Defense Protection Act. The DPT is a 20th-century law that allows the government and the president to essentially propel the private sector into swift action.

4. Oil prices are down more than 15%

In the face of a worldwide recession, oal prices took a hit on Wednesday to a steeply low 25%.
