China just killed any hope of same-sex marriage laws in the region

On Wednesday, China’s spokesperson for parliament reportedly made numerous false claims about same-sex marriage in other parts of the developed world. According to Reuters, China’s parliament (which falsely claims rule over Taiwan) ruled out allowing same-sex marriage in any of China’s territories.

Zang Tiewei, the spokesperson, made the following comments when questioned as to why China remains one of many countries in that part of the world that don’t allow same-sex marriage.

“This rule suits our country’s national condition and historical and cultural traditions,” he said. “As far as I know, the vast majority of countries in the world do not recognize the legalization of same-sex marriage.”

In unusual presentations, China actually has quite the thriving gay community. In many of China ‘s prominent major cities, residents and the like have created prominent communities for themselves — but have no representation within parliament.
