The late Kobe Bryant is headed for the Basketball Hall of Fame no less than 48 hours after his shock death that rocked the globe. According to officials at the organisation in Springfield, he will likely be enshrined right alongside the likes of Kevin Garnett.

Officials indicate that the customary voter requirement has been waived for the late Bryant, who abruptly died along with his daughter Gianna and 7 others in a helicopter crash in Calabasas California.

Sham Charania of The Atlantic was first to report the news which was confirmed by officials but not yet by the NBA themselves.

For 20 seasons, Kobe showed us what is possible when remarkable talent blends with absolute devotion to winning,’ NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said in a statement following Kobe ‘s shocking passing. ‘He was one of the most extraordinary players in the history of our game with accomplishments that are legendary … but he will be remembered most for inspiring people around the world to pick up a basketball and compete to the very best of their ability.’
