Exciting news in the world of theater Macbeth is playing in town. Hunter Theater Project under the producing genius of Gregory Mosher is presenting an all-female production of William Shakespeare Macbeth under the direction of Erica Schmidt. This plays a seven-week run at Hunter College's Frederick Loewe Theatre, January 6–February 22. Tickets here. As a theater student at Hunter College, I was able to attend a dress rehearsal during tech weeks prior to previews and opening night. This weekend Hunter College Theatre Company presents Clare Barron's Dance Nation. Directed by Muse Scholar, Cooperman Fellow, and president of Hunter College Theater Company, Annika Prager leads a cast of nine actors in a play that is about ambition, growing up, and how to find our souls in the heat of it all. Clare Barron’s fierce and ambitious award-winning play follows a troupe of 13-year-old girls as they learn to unleash their power. This is a 99% student ran production. Greek mythology is something I have been fascinated with since elementary school. I remember there was one book, the only one of its kind, in the school library that I still have yet to return. Yikes! Those late fees are most likely outstandingly gross. Ines Braun & Erin Capistrano have created a work that is all-encompassing of what a night out to the theater should feel like, bringing together of communities through storytelling. Braun and Capistrano's new work takes audiences on a journey of how would the forces or powers to operate if there were no male head figure involved.
