We took a look at the Klover “cash advance” app because a reader asked about it, you should probably beware

Editors note: Klover as it is called is a finance app that as you might've guessed gifts people instant small cash loans in between pay checks. This month -- a reader from Detroit Michigan asked us to take a look at the app and determine if it was okay to use after they had discovered that it seemed a tad spammy. Our social media team did in fact take look and we have determined that you should probably avoid the app wholeheartedly. As an app, the app is eerily similar to that of Earnin and so on. The concept of the app is to "float" people small amounts of money which are automatically debited upon repayment dates set automatically at the time of the initial loan. The problem with the Klover App, (aka Klover Financial) is that it does not actually tell you that your ability to...

How to use Affirm or Klarna to shop anywhere (even if the store doesn’t normally partner with them)

These days you've probably heard of apps like Klarna; Affirm, Quadpay and so on. When they first came out the apps were limited to a small number of stores but now largely can be used virtually anywhere. Affirm is probably the most glamorous of the apps simply because it generally gives you far larger limits than the others, though Klarna and Quadpay are quicker and more efficient for smaller purchases. Most of these shopping apps work pretty much the same way even if a store doesn't directly partner with them. The only one that a store has to partner with for it to work is actually Afterpay. Superjeweler a Manhattan jewelry store does not directly partner with the app, but using their virtual card on Affirm, one can actually purchase from them. Sign upCreate a virtual...

Pornhub bans downloads; non-verified user uploads and more amid claims the site profits off of rape and brutal videos

The world’s biggest porn site is finding itself in the midst of some very interesting allegations that apparently are very real and very true. So much true that it’s worth noting here that Pornhub previously denied the allegations on a large scale in an hasty e-mail exchange with The Daily News no less than a week ago. Now Pornhub has announced that as a result of the trafficking allegations against the site a series of changes are being ushered onto the site. Those changes, however, likely will spell doom for the website as it will stifle parts of the website that have made it so successful today. Pornhub claims that the shift came from a meeting that took place in April, but, in recent weeks the company has experienced increased criticism over its failure to act on the illegal ...

Exclusive: She says she’s an Onlyfans performer, now she’s exposed bank receipts that appear to show they took back all of her earnings without reason or notice

Onlyfans.com is a British subscription site that allows a variant of people to make monies online. As we've mentioned before --- it is believed the site has millions of users. Some user experiences have been better than others, er, while the others are or have been just short of a rollercoaster-like nightmare. On Tuesday, The Daily News received a series of WhatsApp communications from Spain. Those communications exposed a series of bank receipts that show Onlyfans payments received, and then abruptly taken back by a mysterious (Peer 2 Peer payment attempt) called Abono P2P. The woman identified only by her first name Patricia has agreed to be identified for this story. We've managed to compare the incoming Fenix International transactions to the outgoing, all of whic...

In the U.S? Here’s why the bank may have taken your stimulus check

Turns out there were actually more problems than successes with the government getting stimulus checks to millions of Americans. As it has come to obviously be, the government accidentally sent some to the wrong account; didn't send others at all, and actually failed to set up the IRS website correctly to handle a massive server overload. But then there's more. A ton of customers who did their checks, er, noticed that their checks had entirely disappeared (mostly bank dependent.) They appear to have disappeared because of overdraft balances previously accrued that some banks couldn't wait to forcibly clear. This report (see here) shows that a huge number of Americans racked up at least one fee related to overdraft fees and such within their bank. Thankfully, if you're with...

5G Made Possible By Millimeter Waves Radio Waves

The radio waves are chattering about 5G NR and MMWaves. What???? “Where 3G brought the internet everywhere and 4G LTE made it faster, 5G NR is meant to vastly boost both the capacity and speed of networks, bringing you your high-res cat videos and 4K VR livestreams without delay.”-Cherlynn Low of engadget.com 5G is going to be sustained through the use of radio bands via the you guessed it radio spectrum. These highly specialized bands are known as millimeter waves. s To put in prospective where this new wave is headed. Qualcomm said you can expect "typical speeds" of 1.4 Gbps -- that's twenty times faster than the average US home broadband connection. At peak rates, think 5 Gbps, it's enough to stream more than 50 4K movies from Netflix at the same time.  Imagine watc...

Don’t Get Left Behind: 5G Era Is Here

For instance, the newly released iPhone 11 is not 5G enabled. Womp Womp Womp. On the other hand, Samsung Galaxy S10+ is 5G compatible. This is not a pitch on one vs the other. Being factual actual. Don Clark of the New York Times writes "The transition to new fifth-generation cellular networks, known as 5G for short, will also affect many other kinds of devices, including industrial robots, security cameras, drones and c...
