Here’s what we know about the classified docs abruptly found in Mike Pence ‘s possession

Mike Pence is now among the high profile names and or former politicians that have suddenly been found in possession of classified documents. On Tuesday, it was initially widely reported that lawyers for the former U.S Vice President found at least a dozen or more classified documents in his Carmel Indiana home.

Now more information has surfaced and comes just a week after Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed a special counsel to investigate a series or collection of classified documents found in Joe Biden ‘s possession throughout his home. It is still unclear why Joe Biden had the classified documents in his possession. As for Pence, Pence has turned the documents over and the DOJ is investigating.

Back on Nov 15 of last year, Pence infamously claimed in an interview with ABC News that he was not in possession of any classified materials.

“Well, there’d be no reason to have classified documents, particularly if they were in an unprotected area,” Pence said in the on the record interview. “But I will tell you that I believe there had to be many better ways to resolve that issue than executing a search warrant at the personal residence of a former president of the United States.”

Fast forward to January 2023, about a week after Joe Biden was also found to be in possession of classified information from his time in the Senate and as Vice President — Pence ‘s claim has turned out to be not true. On Tuesday, it surfaced that he had asked his attorneys to investigate at least four boxes of materials found in his Carmel Indiana home. Among them at least a dozen or more reported classified documents that Pence is on record as having previously denied being in possession of. As noted by numerous outlets, Pence immediately ‘secured’ the documents and informed the National Archives of the finding. It is unclear how they ended up in his home or why he was initially dishonest about being in possession of them.
