MPs want the gov’t to stop a massive lottery scheme’s pot from going to Canadian teachers pensions

Ministers across the country today are trying to stop the pot of the National Lottery from potentially going to Canadian teachers and their pensions. According to reports, MPs want the government to intervene before the potentially £1B pot would effectively not go to good causes in the UK as planned and instead they claim would go towards pensions outside of the country.

Camelot which has helmed the game for more than 28 years is of course locked in a nasty legal battle in High Court of the commissions decision to attempt to award a 10-year license to another operator. In March European lottery operator Allwyn – backed by Czech billionaire Karel Komarek was named the fourth preferred holder of the license for the annual lottery.
