Merrick Garland: I personally approved decision for warrant that led to raid on Mar-a-Lago

New revelations from the Department of Justice today amid protests and right-wing propaganda over the Monday afternoon search of Donald Trump ‘s Mar-a-Lago home. According to reports out today, Attorney General Merrick Garland has confirmed that he personally approved the quest for the warrant before it went on to be signed off on via federal court. Garland has since asked the court to unseal the warrant.

“Where possible, it is standard practice to seek less intrusive means as an alternative to a search and to narrowly scope any search that is undertaken,” Garland said, per CNN.

The New York Times is also out with a new report today detailing how Garland ‘s DOJ indeed did attempt a subpoena back in the Spring over claims that Donald Trump illegally took classified documents from the White House. It is unclear if Trump actually answered the subpoena or the requests and that appears why this actually escalated.

“Faithful adherence to the rule of law is the bedrock principle of the Justice Department and of our democracy,” said Garland. “Upholding the rule of law means applying the law evenly, without fear or favor.”
