American R&B icon and convicted predator R. Kelly is due in court today to learn his fate over his crimes he committed against women and girls. Prosecutors are reportedly seeking some 25 years in length for his sentence meanwhile defence attorneys are seeking no more than 10 years. Defence attorneys are notably claiming in part that some of his behavior was due to his own childhood history of sexual abuse.
‘His victimization continued into adulthood where, because of his literacy deficiencies, the defendant has been repeatedly defrauded and financially abused, often by the people he paid to protect him.’ reads words given to the court by the defence.
U.S. District Judge Ann Donnelly is expected to hand down Kelly ‘s sentencing later today in federal court in Brooklyn.
