CA is set to vote on whether or not abortion rights will be enshrined into state constitution

California is taking a huge step in ensuring that access to safe abortion services along with contraceptive items are enshrined forever. According to reports published Monday, the state has passed legislation that is set to send voters to the ballot box. Voters will now decide whether or not such services will be enshrined into the constitution forever rendering the Supreme Court ‘s decision effectively useless within its borders.

“We know from history that abortion bans don’t end abortion,” state Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon, a co-author of the measure, told the Los Angeles Times. “They only outlaw safe abortions. We must preserve the fundamental reproductive rights of women here in California, because they are under attack elsewhere.”
