America is flirting with the idea of a federal gas tax holiday but don’t hold your breath

Americans may soon get some relief at the pump but if Washington has anything to say about it that probably won’t happen anytime soon. But according to the White House and multiple reports out Thursday, Joe Biden is flirting with the idea of a national gas tax holiday but of course there are plenty of R’s in Congress totally against the idea.

The idea also faces intense blowback from Biden ‘s own allies lots of whom are either in bed with the oil industry or have close ties to someone who is.

“By suspending the 18-cent gas tax, federal gas tax for the next 90 days, we can bring down the price of gas and give families just a little bit of relief,” Biden said in a speech from the White House.

“I fully understand that a gas tax holiday alone is not going to fix the problem,” he continued, “but it will provide families some immediate relief, just a little bit of breathing room as we continue working to bring down prices for the long haul.”
