Amazon ‘s e-book return process is causing authors to go in the red

People for various reasons are widely turning to Amazon more than ever before. For lots of folks (us included), e-readers are an almost necessary item to carry in a tote bag at all times. But those readers along with Amazon are causing major headaches for authors hoping to continue to make a living doing what they do best: writing the very books in which we read.

NPR reports that the “life hack” trend as it is apparently called first originated on sites like Tik Tok. The trend involves renting a book on say a Kindle and then within Amazon ‘s 7 day return period returning It for a refund. This in essence allows people to read books for free although it is actually causing authors to lose money once books have arrived back via returns.

A petition has since surfaced demanding Amazon change its return policy.
