Let’s talk Monkeypox the rare virus spreading throughout the world + signs to look out for

Monkeypox is spreading in the United States and parts of the world and that should be a concern for most people. On Thursday, it emerged that the rare virus has reportedly been found in a man who traveled recently and is being treated in Bellevue Hospital in New York City. New York City is only the latest U.S spot to trace the virus to their respective regions.

First detected in Europe; Portugal, Canada, and now the United States officials have been so far unable to pinpoint exactly how people appear to be getting the virus which is making efforts to stop it wildly difficult.

“This [outbreak] is rare and unusual,” epidemiologist Susan Hopkins, who’s the chief medical adviser of the U.K. Health Security Agency (UKHSA), said in a statement on Monday.

“Exactly where and how they [the people] acquired their infections remains under urgent investigation,” the agency said in the statement.

As noted in the UK bulletin — some of the first known cases in the area were amongst people who hadn’t traveled to known areas where this virus is much more common. Officials because of such believe that the virus is spreading undetected in communities as a result.
