Los Angeles just launched its guaranteed income program, here’s how to apply and what to know

Los Angeles county officials have announced today that for the first time the county will be launching what is known as a guaranteed income program. In the program, residents will be able to apply for debit cards that contain $1,000 on them (a month) in a 3-year pilot program. The program is part of LA ‘s widespread efforts to mitigate the effects of the Coronavirus which vary greatly from family to family.

The program is also an effort by LA to try and tackle the worsened often economic crises among low-income families leading into the pandemic and those that were in the same group prior to the pandemic. Income limits will be about $56,000 a year for a single person and $96,000 for a family of four.
