Whoopi Goldberg ‘s Holocaust comments did not land well at all…. in no kind of way

One thing is for certain and that is the topic of the Holocaust is often controversial as it is often rewritten (by those who don’t want actual history to be told.) But American T.V host Whoopi Goldberg learned the hard way when talking about the Holocaust it probably isn’t a smart idea to make comments like those in which she did.

On the most recent episode of The View, the U.S chat show co-host explained that she understood the Holocaust to not be about race. Of course the sentiment has not sat well with critics and those who had family members who lost their lives in the Holocaust. Let’s be clear — the Holocaust was wrong on all fronts and the number of lives lost is believed to be in the millions.

Her original comments were/are as follows:

“Well, this is white people doing it to white people, so y’all gonna fight amongst yourselves,”  before going on to say that the Holocaust wasn’t about race but rather man’s cruelty to man. The problem with this sentiment is that it was actually both.

“Racism was central to Nazi ideology. Jews were not defined by religion, but by race. Nazi racist beliefs fueled genocide and mass murder,” the US Holocaust Museum tweeted. “The Holocaust was driven by multiple factors, and there is no doubt that one of them was Nazi racism against Jews,” tweeted advocacy organization Stand With Us. “Nazis back then and white supremacists today consider Jews to be a different and inferior race.”

“The #Holocaust was about the Nazi’s systematic annihilation of the Jewish people—who they deemed to be an inferior race,” tweeted the Anti-Defamation League. “They dehumanized them and used this racist propaganda to justify slaughtering 6 million Jews. Holocaust distortion is dangerous.”
