If you’ve ever won a goldfish; had a fish, or perhaps claimed one from a fair of some sort you’ve probably encountered the witchcraft looking circular bowls that they often come with. Those bowls are often provided by AgroBiothers Laboratoire a French firm known for making them. Now, according to the same firm, they will no longer provide the bowls to any one singular source or business because they amount to “abuse.”
How so? According to the company, cramming a goldfish into a confined space like so is cruel and “dramatically” shortens its lifespan as fish often like large open spaces.
“People buy a goldfish for their kids on impulse, but if they knew what a torture it is, they would not do it,” the company’s CEO, Matthieu Lambeaux, tells the news outlet. “Turning round and round in a small bowl drives fish crazy and kills them quickly.”
