He used to be one of T.V ‘s biggest stars and now he’s on trial for faking a hate crime for publicity and attention. As the trial has weaved on, the world has certainly learned that Smollett is probably better left alone than plastered all over magazine covers. During the most recent hearing, Smollett himself took the stand in his own defense whereas he admitted that he hooked up with one of the men he hired; also went to a bathhouse, consumed drugs, and had mutually masturbated with each other while having visited said bathhouse.
It is a far cry from the previous claims by Smollett who pretty much claimed not to know the two men or have much to do with them.
Amusingly, Smollett all but referred to himself as the “Black Cary Grant” during his testimony in which he claimed in an open court that his role on Empire had required his face to appear like a Black version of the Hollywood legend.
“I’m not a character actor, you know, if I was a character actor maybe it’d be different,” he said. “My character was a superstar, a pop star, a beloved GQ whatever, it was very important that I looked like a black Cary Grant.”
Prosecutors maintain that he paid $3,500 to Abimbola and Olabinjo Osundairo, the two brothers they say he paid and hired to stage the phony MAGA hate crime against him while he was in Chicago. The relationship between Smollett and the brothers all but predates the entire scandal clear back to 2017. That year Smollett testified that he met the brothers for the first time, and from there, he would go on to fool around with cocaine and sexual intercourse with at least one of the brothers.
