Derek Chauvin has pleaded guilty to federal charges in the United States

This week marked a big change in the case against Derek Chauvin who is currently serving about 22 years for unlawfully murdering George Floyd in Minneapolis. According to reports, however, that sentence may now be subjected to a longer one considering he’s changed his plea to guilty in regards to the charge of violating Floyd’s civil rights.

He is understood to be facing one charge for violating a teen boy’s rights back in 2017 (where he also kneeled on the boy’s body) and one for violating Floyd’s rights. Prosecutors are now reportedly recommending upwards of 300 months in prisons to run alongside his murder conviction.
