In an online world online harassment is almost inevitable. These days video sharing giant Youtube.com has announced that in the coming days, the number of dislikes on a video will be taken down from the public. Dislikes are often used as a tool in harassment campaigns towards creators (whether from the public or other creators) in terms of who is more popular and who isn’t.
The complaints of course are coming from creators and ordinary profiles alike. For years, Youtube has battled claims that the platform has become toxic in so many ways. Creators are often harassed if they aren’t popular enough, or, if someone simply dislikes them they continously dislike the video for no real good or apparently evident reason. Youtube apparently ran several tests on this very matter involving a Year in Review video in which saw less unwanted activity due to the fact you couldn’t see the dislike button number.
