In this week’s installment of our True Crime Series (Bazaar Crime) we bring you the story of one Heidi Planck. According to published reports this week, Planck reportedly disappeared amid her boss being investigated for a pretty hefty case of financial fraud. In a stunning interview with The Daily Mail, a man who claims to be the ex-husband of Planck revealed that Jason Sugarman the boss didn’t appear all that concerned about her safety but rather her work laptop.
So here’s what is known so far. According to reports, the SEC is investigating Sugarman and Camden Capital Partners LLC, for alleged fraud on multiple fronts but the extent of such isn’t fully known to the public just yet. It is understood that Planck may have been some sort of senior bookkeeper for the company which resulted in her laptop containing information that could’ve implicated both Sugarman and the company in said fraud case.
The fraud allegedly dates back to 2019 when Sugarman was charged with swindling millions from a pension fund and then even more millions from a Native American tribe no less than months later. The SEC, however, was still investigating him as of this year though the story gets pretty murky from there.
In the same interview, Wayne revealed that Sugarman and his assistant tried to pretty much pin this entire ordeal on Ms Planck by claiming that she was stealing money from the company. So called bank receipts then turned up sent by Sugarman, however, those were later turned over to police who discovered Heidi has done nothing wrong.
